Hi, I just come from a new mod's site. I was a bit shocked of their way
to make a certain prefab copy protection system. It is a Hammer prefab.
To make it unusable in other mods they bind it to dozens of special
entities.

I think this can't be good for the server performance and net traffic,
right?
If this way of protection system should really be avoided, would it be
possible to use a .mdl file and xor it with a bit-mask repeatedly? Could
the .mdl be saved 'encoded' and converted back in memory when the game
dll loads? (This would mean that the SDK must allow to load models into
the engine from a memory location rather than from the disk!)

Thanks for all input.
Marco
