Why is it that even with the mobo integrated AC97 sound I have, and the
cheap labtec boom mic, that w2k's inbuilt sound recorder app can record and
play back my voice nicely, considering the quality of my components, yet the
Sierra Voice Setup app...I can't even describe it really.
1. There is a constant humming noise, that sounds like a combination of
space noise, and a horribly tuned airplane piston engine revving up and down
and up and down. This is just by firing up the app.
2. When I speak into it, you can't decipher what comes back.
3. The syllables I speak into the mic get played back, but are doubled in
time length, if not more...just drawn out like they're played back at 1/2 or
1/3 speed or something....
what gives? Windows sound recorder does fine, although "static-y", but
easily understandable.
This Sierra Voice Setup thing isn't recording and playing back the same
stuff that windows sound recorder is...wtf!
Any ideas here? Please help Valve.
BTW, what reference hardware, and what window interface did you hook to?
God I'm baffled and ticked. Why can an el cheapo OS sound recorder do
100000 times better than your interface to the sound system?
