You don't want your mic amplified when recording ... If it's on and you're
not using headphones, a great chance of feedback can occur ... sometimes
even with headphones on ... I didn't even realize they did this ... That's
cool ...  I'm sure if you double click your taskbar speaker, go into
Options->Properties->Recording you will see that the mic is not muted ...

When I did the test record it was weird ... Heard my voice twice and very
much delayed ... I used it simply to set volume levels ... it works fine in
game ...
