And one other thing.  The system setup button is grayed out in the Voice
Setup app.  Also, when I have the Windows Volume Control, or Mixer, open,
and launch the Voice Setup app, the Microphone Balance "mute" check box
suddenly gets checked by a ghost (or should I say by the Voice Setup app?).

This is just strange.  I really hope that your response is NOT "Go buy a
real sound card."  If Microsoft's sound recroder app works, so should voice
comm in HL.
