Sorry read your other post before this one. Your explanation sounds
good. I like server flexibility.

Put me down on the side of serveradmin flexability.
Option to disable the rename ability completely during your server
connection\map. namechangewhileconnected (0\1 default 1)

Option to limit # of times perplayer per map namechangeperplayer (# -
default 3)

Option to limit overall rate of name changes globally namechangetickrate
(seconds - default 60) namechangeratelimit # (default 6)

Something to this effect would allow server admins greater flexability
then just some Valve derived, hard coded limit. though you could alway
tack on an internal limited of say something like 10 a second to prevent
dos's.

We will look at increasing the timeout interval, I can't tell you the
exact implementation right now however (we are bouncing around a couple
of ideas).

Alfred, please put my vote in with for a threshold of 1x per map or 1x
every 5-10 minutes or more. Perhaps a default value of 1x per map, with
config entry to modify if desired.

I would say once per minute is plenty. If Valve could help us with that,
it would be extremely useful.

It's CS:S that is being referred to. One of the newly released hacks out
now is a speedhack that will also grab every username on the server, and
change that players name to a slight variation of each one, once a
second.

Something like a cvar that admins can set or something hard-coded to
where either 1) the name-change allowed every X seconds is increased
significantly or 2) only X amount of name changes allowed per round or
(more ideally) per map would be nice.

And here's hoping that VAC2 comes out soon - the hacks and cheats have
become very bad recently, and are now widespread.
