I have previously worked for both Intel and ATI as a professional
programmer, you have no clue as to what you are talking about.

Every other FPS I have played on those three setups got MUCH more boost out
of the GPU upgrade than the processor upgrade. As to a 3200+ to a 3800+ x2
... You do realize that those are basically the same processor in a 1core
and a 2core version. And that often for intensive single threaded programs
having 2 processors (or cores) can actually penalize performance due to some
"issues" with the design of the NT5.1 kernel (and 5.0 and 4.0 ... Oh hey VMS
as well ... I wonder if there's a connection there)

Typically if you call someone a hardware noob, you should at least know what
you are talking about.

You guys sound like a bunch of hardware noobs..

Example..

"And I'll say that I first
upgraded from a 6800GT on a A-64 3200+ to a 7800GTX 512MB with same CPU and
I got barely 5-6FPS, BUT when I upgraded to a 4000+, I gained almost 20FPS
(this is at 1280x1024 4x/8x)"

You do realize your GPU depends SOULY on how fast your processor is..

if you're running a 3200+ amd64 with a 7800GTX you will never get the max
fps out of the card just b/c the CPU is too slow.. if you run the 7800GTX on
something like a 3800+ x2 amd64 then you'll see a dramatic improvement..

You guys should really do some research before you start complaning or
buying any more hardware..

fucking nubs.
