Good old fashioned community building would be great if quickplay didn't come along.
Most players use that, probably all new players use that. Thanks to quickplay there's a good number of maps and gamemodes that come with the game yet are rarely played anymore. There's less no crit servers, there's also less custom servers compared to before quickplay (and idle/trade servers don't cout as part of real servers).
