And whatever happened to getting your game to the _person_ who wants to play it instead of to the _computer_ they choose to use? Especially when there are viable alternatives to "proprietary standards" such as D3D. You would here me shut up about a Mac port of HL2 just as quickly if you told me there was a D3D package for Mac OS X as if you said Valve changed their mind and decided to also use OpenGL. My point is-- I don't care how you get it to me, I just want to have it. Valve is making choices that preempt any chance of that ever happening, and that sucks. But more importantly, why are people still playing Half-Life (and TFC and CS and DoD...) after how many years? Is it because it only runs on Windows? Is it because the only people who like it use Windows? No, I think the existence of this mailing list is proof enough otherwise. I tend to think the answer to those questions is that Half-Life is a great game that attracts people regardless of their platform of choice. Unfortunately, this time around I think you're probably right. Thank you once again, oh almighty dollar. >:-( _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
