You know, it's always the same tired old argument: "Well if it weren't for
us who run the servers, online multiplaying would not exist.". Give me a
break. Look how many servers are out there right now? Do you think the few
of you who are in here pissing and moaning are really going to be the
end-all of online gaming.

Again, you have choices here. No one is holding you hostage to run a HL
server. If you don't like it, don't run one. It really is as simple as that.

Good luck with your future endeavors.

Sirius

The dedicated server is free service by Valve....HAH. Do they not see that
the number of servers directly affects the number of players and in turn the
amount of income? It's nice to see that Valve is concerned for the CS
community enough that long-time faithful server admins are now getting
screwed with an ever declining quality of hlds, and refusal from the
manufacturer to do anything about those problems. That goes back to the
original quote from the cz overview. Sure.... Valve is working closely with
the CS community, just look how cooperative they have been..." Point is, if
you don't like it... Move on.", "Here's an option, stop running it.". Well
if it weren't for us who run the servers, online multiplaying would not
exist. And although no one has ever paid for the server software, all
people who play on the servers and even those who run the servers have
bought a copy of HL/CS. Here's a thought, try some Customer Service....it
works well for a lot of companies. I rent game servers and have decided
based soley on the attitude of correspondance here that I cannot support a
game (Half-Life) that the dedicated server is not fully supported by the
maker. I will also not carry HL2 game servers unless there is a big turn
around in the attitude reflected on the CUSTOMERS who run servers for the
community.

Good Day,
