I do don't remeber the last time that i can`t play blizzard's games online. Blizzard had bad times with Diablo II when launched. When they relesead war3, they did their home work, even with updates, I always connected to b.net and then the game is patched without problems. Steam is really a good idea, i really HATE to stay on fileplanet's waiting line to get patches. Where are just helping valve test and improve it. Come on guys, after ONE year of official steam no beeing a beta, they still have connection problems. AND, this last update is SMALL, extremely SMALL. just some files.
