I don't have to email anyone I already know what the max value for
sv_maxrate for hlds is, its 30.000 but what we have been discussing is what
the client should set their RATE too for Internet servers and that is 25.000


You all can keep talking until you're blue in the face but that fact will
not change.

Why would cal even have that setting set to 25000 if it was viable.

Max for Source is something around 1 000 000. It was posted by Alfred
Reynolds when there has been a Source update like 1 year ago.
 
The difference between a VALVe developer and Steam Support site, is that
Steam Support site articles are not all written by VALVe. Some articles are
written by volunteers, so there can be errors.
 
If you don't believe me that the max rate is 20000 for HL1 engine, then send
an e-mail to a VALVe developer and see.
