As I said, the load spiked at 8 earlier this evening (haven't seen it
that high before), but is normally around 2-2.5 when all 24 slots are
occupied, and people are on the L4D servers as well.
Also, wouldn't this be visible somehow in the VM machine itself, if it
was waiting on something? dstat running full output spectrum shows
nothing rising, except for load.
I haven't tried running gameservers on barebones metal, but I have a
hard time believing that running it on a VM should degrade the
performance that much, VMWare is a pretty mature product, and, as
stated, I am not running more cores virtualized, than are available on
the CPU.
