Per my experience, pretty much no one reads what the motd says. Even I press enter 3 times every time i connect to a server. This skips motd, map info and puts me directly in a team with a player selected. Then i change class and be done with it. I know several others that do this. They want to play, not read motd due to experience of some slow loading site with full of garbage with some text that might have something they should see.

MOTD is message of the day originally, not a place to put lots of crap (rules are ok though as i use it). Whenever it gets used to some other way different from notifying people for server related rules, news, etc, it's used in a wrong way. Also features that use MOTD are ok since there are no other way to do it (see list of plugins that someone did earlier).

Has anyone here actually noticed that having MOTD rules actually increased the number of rules abiding players? Having the rules pages (in my exp) has only been used for rule disputes, which typically are won by the one of the server admins, regardless of the rules.
