So your recommendations are one upgrade and one downgrade?  :)  I'll
get on the Rails downgrade in a moment.  I just started playing with
gem to see about updating rake (new to gem and ruby also), and found
the list option.  Here's what it said:

r...@dell:~# gem list --local

*** LOCAL GEMS ***

...bunch of gems snipped...
rake (0.8.7)
test-spec (0.10.0)

That's bizarre, right?  gem says 0.8.7 is installed, but rake -V says
0.8.1?
