The only thing that seems to work for me and also my son (a trumpet player) is to follow the suggestion made to us by Chris Wilhjelm - get up early, play - and sound and feel absolutely awful - a few hours before you actually need to sound good. If e.g., you have to play a 10 AM rehearsal, then have your face on the horn at 7 AM. I have found no other solution to this problem, but this approach does seem to work. -S- _______________________________________________ post: [email protected] unsubscribe or set options at https://pegasus.memphis.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/options/horn/archive%40jab.org
