Hans and All,

I do remember playing a number of concerts with Peter Sch.... PDQ Bach....
Peter
was always so so funny.  He always made his entrance from the balcony by
sliding
down a rope.  Many many stories about his conducting.  One really good one.

Playing a little Back piece:  can't remember which one.  About two minutes into
the piece his stand collapses.... he quickly picks up the many pieces of the
score rights the stand and goes on.  It collapses again.  This time he picks up
the stand and walks off the stage.  The strings continue to play as if nothing
happened.  Then from off stage comes this very loud power saw cutting wood...
Next the banging of a hammer... strings still playing as if nothing is
happening... he then comes back on the stage with this God awful put together
stand and proceeds to finish the piece.  Many many funny things like that.

Another funny performer... and also find musician... Victor Borga?? .... sorry
about spelling... My English teacher in college used to tell me that I was the
worse speller she had ever encountered... Anyway Mr Borga was always just as
funny in rehearsal as he was on a performance, and his "antics" never got old.
He always had the orchestra in stitches.... for our non American friends being
in stitches means uncontrolled laughter... He is really missed.

Hello Milton & others on the list,

I am very sorry about the many typos in that message.
Did we talk about the same conductor ? Yes, because we have too many
of that type (not Danny Kaye).

But I talked about a conductor named Peter Schn.....

Like a poor robot.
