That is really interesting Steve. I also had my own chair that was an older folding chair that had been used in Kleinhans for many years. Mine was the only green chair on a stage of black chairs. I had some problems with management, but since I was able to get a note from my Dr stating I had back problems, I was able to keep using my chair.
Awhile back Kleinhans got rid of all the old chairs, but they were kind enough to give me mine. I now use it at home. I don't for the life of me understand what they're thinking. I remember when our orchestra got a set of those damn things. We had two violinists whose feet didn't reach the floor at all. It took me a long time to realize that those chairs were affecting my playing in a bad way. I recovered one of the older "normal" chairs and the stage hands were happy to make sure I had "my" chair at every service. Mostly because it pissed the management off royally. I have a friend who brings his own chair to freelance gigs. A pain in the butt, but probably well worth it. I have an old Steelcase chair (made in Michigan!) you know, the kind they used to have in offices that have the grey legs and the green plastic seat pad. I covered it in black and painted the frame flat black. It's a great height for me and I've schlepped it to quite a few gigs. - Steve Mumford _______________________________________________ post: [email protected] unsubscribe or set options at https://pegasus.memphis.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/options/horn/kicklighgter%40yahoo.com _______________________________________________ post: [email protected] unsubscribe or set options at https://pegasus.memphis.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/options/horn/archive%40jab.org
