Chris,

Not sure it's a matter of worse or better, but adding or subtracting any metal 
to the horn will change the way it plays and sounds. Some horns can benefit 
from a cut bell, others don't do quite as well... The best Rauch horns I've 
played all have had fixed bells. In the end, I think it's a matter of personal 
preference. If you are sensitive enough to feel and har the difference, it's a 
big issue for you. If you're not, then it's a matter of convenience.
