I once had a Holton Geyer cut for a screw bell by Giardinelli's. It was not
made worse than before, only made very very slightly 'darker' in tone.
However, when I first got the horn back from the shop and started playing
it, I was sure that it was ruined. It was horribly out of tune. For a few
minutes that I was in despair, only to discover that the shop had reversed a
couple of valve tubes when reassembling the horn.

Subject: [Hornlist] Screw Bell Conversion????

Hello all!
I have always wondered if this was one of the greatest urban myths of
horndom......

Has anyone really ever had a horn bell cut for a screw bell and had the horn
turn out worse than before?
