Stan,A lot of email servers today check against blacklists to try to limit
the amount of incoming spam.
When dealing with a shared host, you generally have the same IP address as
multiple people on the same server, so it could be that one of them is
sending spam, it could be that someone sent spam from this IP address years
ago.
Another possibility is that people marked your emails as spam instead of
using a proper process to stop receiving them.

To figure out if your IP address is blacklisted, try this site:
http://www.mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx
If there are any blacklists that contain your IP address, this site will
provide a link to that site and you may be able to get your IP address
removed from their system.

Good luck!
