As a non professional but discriminating artist i have some basic questions that i can't seem to reconcile. I have a DJ 130nr
Profile = a specific color profile for your printer / paper that you can keep and using the DJ calibration keep
consistent
RIP = Raster Image Processing, I understand this in its simplist iteration.
I gather that a custom profile will give much better results than a standard DJ profile at how much $$$ ?
I gather a RIP is a superior printing methodology that includes (??) "custom" profiles for specific printer / paper combos ??
My past graphics work did not always show stochaistic RIPs to be the best, this was early in the game, are they the way to go now?
Next ...pricing ImagePrint is $900 ouch!!! Are there alternatives?
Finally for a former professional photographer will a profile suit me well enough or will i need to go to a RIP?
I know the last question is subjective, but i think with 40 years in the game and an award winning photographer my standards are high.
Any insight would be appreciated, it seems the threads all assume a more knowledgable starting point than i am at.
