I have not looked from the back or > pulled anything out. You should move the printer so as to allow access to the rear, and remove the rear component. It's easy, made for user access to clear paper jams. Just push in on the tabs and pull straight out. It's essentially the "turn around" for paper from the tray and front manual feed, and once removed provides a clear view of most of the paper path.
