I had a fortunate set of circumstances to solve this. I printed a couple B/W prints and had a complete failure on one of the prints (all 'red and white'). At that point, I fired up the diagnostics page test and got HP tech support on the line. The light cyan cartridge was completely blocked (and the black showed very light banding). Couldn't completely revive the light cyan cartridge with cleaning. Luckily, I had a spare at home and popped it in---problem solved.
