Dear HP Community Its great to have you out there, having experienced all the problems I'm anticipating going through! I have made the PVC pipe roll holder for my new DJ 130 but do not have a roll cutter yet. I have not tested the roll holder yet. I have only hand fed A3 sheet in at the front.
Before I start trying out the 24" rolls.... Here are some Q's I cant find answers to in the manuals. Q1. If I feed a 24" roll of paper through and print a 24x36 print, how do I advance the paper say 1cm at a time so I can get scissors in to cut it off when its finished? Is there a button press combination I have missed? Q2. Having hacked the 1st print off the front of the roll, can I leave the rest in situ and continue printing a 2nd, 3rd etc, without reloading the roll? Q3. Will a paper cutter solve this "Leave in situ" problem? Q4. Could I leave them all joined end to end and cut them later when I have done, say 4 or 5 24x36" prints? Q5. If i DO have to extract the paper and re load the whole roll every time I do a print, how do I release the paper from the feed rollers (ie reverse the feed) to extract the paper out the back end? Is there a button press combination to do this? I notice there are buttons on HP's $500 roll feed which presumably reverse the direction of the paper roll for paper extraction - but do the feed rollers inside the printer "let go" of the paper to do this? Q5. I have heard it is possible to "nest" pictures smaller tha A1 for printing, to maximise paper usage - can I do this somehow with the HP driver software at the print/page setup stage without a RIP? I suppose a long way round would be to do a montage in photoshop and print it A1, cutting iot up later? Hope to repay you soon as I get to be more of an expert!!
