Hi,

I saw your earlier message, but I had to run had hoped some of the
"real" gurus on the list would have replied before now - must
be the Thanksgiving thing :-/

Welcome to the nightmare of HP customer No Service - you can check the
archives to be sure, but there are MANY MANY
postings about how bad their customer service is. I actually cough up
for a service contract on my unit,
and for the few problems I've had I seemed to get prompt service, but I
think they have a separate setup for "paying" customers.
But on the other hand, I got prompt service when I first bought the
unit, so ymmv... You bought this new and its still in its
warranty period, right?

Honestly, my first thought was that one of your heads had gone bad (or
the ink haze had screwed up the connections to them or
something), as what you're describing happens a lot when one of these
goes or has problems, but if the HP test print doesn't show
any head problems, it gets interesting.

What's your workflow - do you just print through photoshop (using the
"print with preview" window) with a profile for the printer, use a RIP,
just send a file to it, or...? Did you set up the printer before printing
(go in and set the color control to manual, color managed by application,
etc., so that the printer isn't trying to "fix" what its fed if
necessary, etc.)?
If you are using a profile, wheredid it come from? did you get ahold of
a corrupted or goofy one, or select the wrong one, or...? Could
you have possibly selected the wrong profile in the printer itself

That's about all the simple ones I can come up with for this printer -
you might search the archives and see if there are some others I've missed
(or hopefully some of the gurus will take a break from family stuff and
reply if they have some better suggestions).

Good Luck - most printing problems can be really frustrating - it would
be really nice if the various manufacturers could agree on a common set of
interfaces so they'd be easier to set up and get good images out of...

Best,

rkg
