I posted this last week. Can anyone help? Tell me to chill if I am just being impatient, I can appreciate you guys could be busy. I have noticed a few people with similar problems, but with no solutions. I willing to put some effort into it, but I need some direction.
thanks Dan --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi everyone, I am revisiting this problem after a break of some months. I have an HP Officejet 1170c that hangs whenever I try to scan through xsane. Xsane detects it ok and loads up and the scanner makes the normal noise. When pressing Preview or Scan the CPU hits 100% and stays there. Here is output of /var/log/messages dan[~]$ tail -f /var/log/messages Jan 18 22:41:39 morocco kernel: [17190202.996000] lp0: ECP mode Jan 18 22:41:39 morocco kernel: [17190203.016000] lp0: ECP mode Jan 18 22:41:40 morocco kernel: [17190204.328000] lp0: ECP mode Jan 18 22:42:33 morocco xsane: unable to fill data buffer: size=18411: prnt/hpijs/hplip_api.c 450 Jan 18 22:45:11 morocco hpiod: channel cleanup ci=1 Jan 18 22:45:11 morocco hpiod: channel cleanup ci=2 Jan 18 22:45:12 morocco hpiod: device cleanup uri=hp:/par/OFFICEJET_PRO_1170C_SERIES?device=/dev/parport0 Jan 18 22:45:12 morocco hpiod: device active clientcnt=1 channelcnt=0 uri=hp:/par/OFFICEJET_PRO_1170C_SERIES?device=/dev/parport0 Jan 18 22:45:14 morocco hpiod: device cleanup uri=hp:/par/OFFICEJET_PRO_1170C_SERIES?device=/dev/parport0 Jan 18 22:46:14 morocco xsane: unable to fill data buffer: size=18411: prnt/hpijs/hplip_api.c 450 Versions: HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 1.6.9) Device Information Utility ver. 3.4 xsane 0.991 The scanner used to work with Suse 9.2, but since then I have not had it working on any distributions. Currently I am running Ubuntu 6.10 and Debian Etch both with the same results and have tried on other distributions. Any help would be appreciated.
