I can't tell from the syslog messages if this is the same parallel port issues I have seen before. There are probably more syslog messages before the tail that would help determine what is happening.
The previous parallel port problem was hpiod could not set the parallel port to software ECP mode. HPLIP only uses Software ECP not Hardware ECP and ECP is necessary for scanning. Software ECP mode is set via the ppdev/parport kernel module. If Software ECP mode is not available via ppdev/parport you may have to check your parallel port bios settings. We don't have a OJ 1170, but we will re-test HPLIP with another parallel port OJ on Ubuntu. -dave > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf > Of Dan Phillips > Sent: Wednesday, January 24, 2007 9:16 AM > To: hplip-help@lists.sourceforge.net > Subject: [Hplip-help] Resend: Officejet 1170c scanning hangs > > I posted this last week.
