I would like to remove 3 "Always try and fill any free slots that are available in the upcoming two weeks." as those slots can be filled with reserve shows. This reminds listeners that it is not a given that HPR will always have shows, unless people take the time to contribute. We have been filling empty slots with reserve shows with a warning for some time, and it has proven extremely effective in drawing in new hosts, and keeping the queue in equilibrium.
I concur.
I would like to change 6 from "If you are uploading a series of shows then post them one every two weeks." to "All hosts must leave 9 slots between their shows."
I agree with the motivation, but I'm not sure the replacement wording is as clear as intended. I would have preferred something like "If you are uploading a series of shows, ensure there are at least two weeks between your chosen slots."
The wording "All hosts must leave 9 slots between their shows" just invites confusion for new hosts (ie. "Why 9, what's special about 9?" etc.)
I understand and agree with the three reasons you posted, however I have a comment on #3:
The third is that it could be seen as a syndicated show, or building your own brand. We already have a policy of not syndicating shows, and another that HPR is a podcast, and not a podcast hosting platform.
Unfortunately, I have seen this ideal violated several times the past two years. There is one host who always uploads music, and I believe he introduces it as a series. There is another host who cross-posts his own podcast episodes from an existing show he has created. I don't believe these fit with the overall HPR mission, and am mildly irritated when they get published.
