I think the "Open Source" way of thinking is accepted.

In academia you NEVER publish anything unless you receive feedback.

The only thing new about Open here is that it is applied to the Internet.

If you build it, they will come.

When you first start an OSS project.  You spend a good deal of time talking to
yourself.

Right now Reptile has only about 20 participants.  These are mostly people who
can't dive in to a greater depth.  Smart but not Java guys.

Turbine was the same way when it was first started.... after a while the public
knowledge forms into a very active form of collaboration.
