Hi it is me again. Before actually installing a new snapshot version I decided to follow suggestion on getting rid of some many zeros. Therefore I have set up title_factor: 50 keyword_factor:100 text_factor=1
I deleted the settings for other factors, which I believe sets them to their defaults. Note that I have made typo in the last one. After indexing it turns up that "star awarding" worked, i.e. titles and keywords came with maximum stars. As result of typo it could not parse docs and pdf-s so they did not appear in the search. Changing typo, gives back the problem with search again, suggesting that something with our parsers might be wrong. Is there anything specific I should look for in parsers or the way they are called in the conf file? I'd also be interested in knowing if you have the same problem with 3.1.6 as well. The changes in 3.2's scoring were supposed to improve relevance ranking over the 3.1 series, but it may be that there are cases that lead to odd behaviour (perhaps triggered by setting a bunch of factors to 0?), so it would be informative to get some comparative results. -- Gilles R.
