Further to the above, I can now report in a bit more detail, having
made a few notes.
The project that I am using comprises 4 images.
Using the assistant, I load the images and then check that they are
all as expected.
I go to the 'optimizer' tab and choose 'position and view'.
I then go to the 'stitcher' tab and 'rectilinear'.
Back to 'assistant', and choose '2.align..'
It goes through all it's usual reports and then opens the 'panorama
preview' window, which only shows one image.
'auto' is set. If I try to select another of the images (0,1,...4) the
preview display is unchanged.
Selecting 'update' or 'all' has no effect on the preview display.
Close the preview window and the 'assistant' tab has a message under
the '2.align..' button;
"images are connected by 56 control points. Mean after optimization:
1286.7 pixel, max: 1834.5.
???? bad control points, lens parameters, or images v"
The ???? is because some of the message is covered by the '3.create
panorama..' button which is greyed out.
If I go to the 'stitcher' tab the 'save project and send to batch' is
greyed out.
If I go to the 'optimizer' tab and select the 'optimize now!' button,
it does the optimization, reports the errors and asks if OK. Choosing
OK leaves me in exactly the same situation as already described.
I have tried removing this version (0.7.0-1 fc9 x86_64) and installed
the latest svn prior to the 0.7.0 release version, with no effect. I
am now thinking that is probably to be expected as I seem to recall
that the release was in fact that last svn version.
It is all quite bewildering...a not uncommon experience for old-
timers :-) particulaly as previous sets of images that produced nice
panos using the auto process, now give the same sort of result as
described above.
I am pretty sure that I am going through the same process that I have
used many times before to get a quick look at how a pano will turn
out, except that when using the Fedora 8 versions it all worked pretty
well without any problems.
Something wrong somewhere.

Cheers,
Terry
