hugin remaps the images before exposure fusing them, since they may 
not be perfectly aligned - i.e handheld bracketing works fine, not 
just tripod work.

One of the results of this year's Summer of Code will be to give 
hugin some understanding of which images are 'perfectly aligned'.  
They will have linkable positions similar to the 'lens number' 
system that currently links lens parameters.

So in the future it will be possible to exposure fuse such stacks 
before remapping them.
