The .pto.mk file actually has everything to create these exposure layers, see $(LDR_EXPOSURE_LAYERS). It would be trivial to add a new rule that exposure fuses these layers and creates a 'seam blended then exposure fused' output rather than a 'exposure fused then seam blended' output (this would be a good task for somebody who wanted to figure out the Makefile stitching system).
