GSoC is first and foremost about students and about code. Google requires that code is produced. Not documentation or UI design. For UI there is a similar, specific program [0]. IIRC LuminanceHDR benefited from it (when it was still called qtpfsgui). If Alexandre is still reading here, he may tell about the experience. For Documentaton, Google had another program, GHOP (Google Highly Open Participation) but I have not heard of anything in that area after 2008. Experience shows that the most successful projects are those driven by the student's needs and aspirations, not by the project's wishlist. If a student comes along whose wishes and aspiration match the current project wishlist, the fit is perfect. But if the fit is less than perfect, it is better for the project to adapt to the student's aspirations. Yuv [0] http://season.openusability.org/
