So I added control points, then went to the "Optimize" tab and clicked
"Optimize now". Then I went to the "Stitcher" tab and clicked "stitch
now" and there were errors.

I have attached the two images I am using for a demo. I put a control
point at both ends of the squiggles.

Any suggestions?

David
