I suppose with the 2012 stuff getting near ,underground generators have to be considered. They would generate quite a lot of vibration if big enough and at night could break through. The Military undoubtably have facilities all over the place running 24/7. If it quacks like a duck- it probably is - and D/Gens are what most agree on huim sounds like most. I lived with a few in the Navy- and No, it's not memory playing tricks :) Tunnels and pipelines would add nodes etc- and extend range a lot.
