Here's one for any UK-based gurdy-players... On Sunday 13th September in Ketton, Rutland, England, there will be a one day festival which may be of interest to members of this list. From 10am until 4pm there will be a variety of workshops including:
hurdy-gurdy with Cliff Stapleton English border pipes and mandolin with Andy Letcher electric bass guitar with Kevin Foster singing, songwriting, guitar and banjo with Reg Meuross piano accordion with Karen Tweed flute and piano accordion with Sarah Allen electric guitar with Martin Belmont The idea is that you can dip in and out of different workshops as you please. From 6.30-8.00pm there will be an evening ceilidh with Cliff and Andy and that is followed by an evening concert/dance with the Reg Meuross Band. Daytime tickets cost £10 for adults, £7 for concessions, which includes admission to the ceilidh (otherwise £3). Tickets for the evening concert/dance cost £7 (£5 concessions). It all takes place at Ketton Primary School, High Street, Ketton, Rutland. Tickets are available from Carol Tinkle 07787 799988. Sounds like a fantastic day. Unfortunately I can't go, as I will be on a plane to Seattle for the Over the Water hurdy-gurdy festival. Haven't mastered the art of being in two places at once!
