OK, so 345mm chanter string scale length it is.  Now to start to figure out how high above the soundboard that string goes, it is second most important to figure out wheel diameter.

My sinphone has a 6 inch wheel, I don't even begin to claim that is optimal or close to it because aside from how fast you have to crank to get a reasonable 'bow' speed I don't know anything that wheel size helps or hinders.

Do we just make an arbitrary guess, or do we involve our player friends with pro instruments and those with plans to give us a few functional sizes and opinions, and get our expert builders to give a brief overview of the theory behind wheel size?

I'm all for the expert input option myself
