Thanks to all who weighed in ... especially Mr. Weiser.  That post was
exactly the kind of nuts n/ bolts stuff I need to hear.  
still wondering, though, when playing the mc50's multichanneled track back
to the rm1x, will the 1x see that as multiple tracks, or ....  And when you
mentioned converting it to a MIDI file and putting it on a floppy to play
back on the 1x, will the rm1x be able to read a mc-50 formatted floppy w/out
reformatting?  I know you're doing this stuff in cakewalk and don't have to
worry about the mc-50's special needs, but your guess is probably better
than mine.  Later,
