One more question:
Can we add a field to the drumkit xml that indicates if the drumkit is
GMcompliant?
That way we could add some sort of "GM" indication in the H2 gui
Would it be a problem for older versions of H2 if the xml contains an extra
field, or will it just be ignored?

ok,
so that means that there are actually 3 things to be done to make H2 fully
GM compliant + configurable :
- Wolke's patch
- your MIDI input mapping
- recreate drumkits to make them GM compliant
i'll look into the recreation of the drumkits and see if i can automate
this a little bit (should be doable by adding some extra functionality to
the py script i already have)
sounds like a plan !
