I think that (I believe this is true in gettext) having 3.x translated can also be used by 2.4.x, but I might be wrong. I'm more than happy to coordinate with you and share work/translations. Please forgive me if I'm making a wrong assumption, since it's only based on your name, but I'm referring to the translation of pt (commonly known as pt_PT). Are you working on pt as well or pt_BR? Even though the two are coming even more close together, there are still enough differences to justify having the two options available for end-users.
