I absolutely agree that the xo icon is the best for inside the interface, and that the sugarlabs word is a good general logo for sugarlabs.
But there's no reason we can't have a mascot too. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: (provisionally named) Suggie<http://sugarlabs.org/go/Image:Bigsuggie-xo.svg> !
