I never thought I'd say that, but after we had several corrupted PDSE's, I
don't think they're ready for prime time (and I always liked them before, in
fact I still think they're great for small datasets).

The ones that were corrupted were always in the range of more than 4500
cyls. They are occupied by Fault Analyzer Side Files in our installation, so
corruption isn't life threatening.

In addition, we had numerous performance problems related to these same
PDSEs.

The last Share proceedings have a presentation about how great PDSEs are.
That presentation has some good info on the problems and what they want to
do to solve them.

If you lost the system, chances are that you had to deal with unresolved/
wrongly resolved latch contention. IBM will tell to 'go install the latest
maintenance', never mind that that has a big tendency to go PE. If you don't
have that, they won't really llok at your problem.

Regards, Barbara Nitz
