IIRC, the VVDS must be cataloged in any catalog that contains data sets on that volume which are in the VVDS. If you create a data set that is cataloged in the master catalog, the VVDS will be cataloged in the master catalog. If you create a data set that is cataloged in a user catalog, the VVDS wil be cataloged in the user catalog. > >Can anyone give me an advice on which manual tells us that a VVDS (an ESDS >itself) can be defined without under a catalog (while Using Datasets just tell >not have to be under Master Catalog) You might try "managing catalogs" or "using data sets". Or do a search for VVDS in the DFSMS bookshelf. -- Tom Marchant ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
