I understand your frustrations with HP but Dell aren't much better! Take a read of the following thread about the poor souls who have been experiencing USB 3 problems with their XPS 15/17 laptops. The thread goes for 68 pages and was started in November 2010. And Dell still hasn't rectified the problem.
