I could show you scars from both vendors! I also know things that I cannot reveal as a former (short-time) IBMer. But, suffice it to say, nobody wants to do any more than they absolutely have to in either organisation. As a matter of fact, our service provider plays the same game. We have asked for things to be changed for security purposes. They give us a bunch of purple prose and circular arguments and pseudo-explanations that end up with nothing being done. Because, they don't want to do it! And, I'm 0 4 3 on the last three. I think it's because I have not been able to refute their arguments in a way my management can understand.
