No.  Sharing includes IPLing the 1.8 system, then shutting it down and
IPLing the 1.4 system.

There is no toleration maintenance that you can put on your 1.4 system
to tolerate changes made by the 1.8 system.

You can do it if you want, but when you go you may not be able to go
back if there are problems.
