Ed,

I hope that clients don't feel we are starting to "backslide", and would be
willing to discuss offline any comments they may have. And I do appreciate
the kind words. However, CA-1 does still support NSL tapes for those clients
that want to use them. To be honest, I haven't seen any clients still using
NSL for many years now. But they should still work.

And as others have stated, we do not "hook" any IBM modules. And this
includes not replacing OMODVOL1 and EMODVOL1, though we do dynamically
front-end them.

...<snip>...
I know its been a while and my memory could be incomplete. I vaguely
remember that UCC-1 (CA-1) replaced the IBM modules OMODVOL1 and
maybe EMODVOL1. That was not reflected in SMPE zones. Its a mute
point as IIRC UCC1 (ca-1) dropped support for NSL labels a while ago.
The zaps for O/C /E weren't either (again IIRC) those weren't
reflected in the CSI. I have understood from others on the list here
that UCC-1 (CA-1) had gotten their act together on the SMPe side. But
at least one person commented on here that the started to backslide.
Since I am no longer in the support for UCC-1 side my knowledge has
aged and has been outdated by several years. I will depend on the
group here to keep us updated on the real competence level of the
support (SMPe) wise of CA-1.

I have lauded CA-1 support for their SMPe support in the recent past.
I may have to retract that if I hear from others that they are
slipping backwards.

BTW the debugging staff at CA-1 IMO is fairly good as CA support
goes. I have heard less criticism of them than the rest of CA so that
is always a good sign.
