A connection is established when a FIND/BLDL (w/o NOCONNECT) is
successful for a member. Another FIND/BLDL for the same member
disconnects the old copy and connects the new. A CLOSE disconnects all.
Scope for "another FIND/BLDL"?
o Same TCB?
o Same ASID?
o Same LPAR?
o Other (specify)?
I didn't write the code, but I believe the most obvious answer is: Same DCB.
Also, I forgot to mention STOW DISC as another way (besides CLOSE) to
remove the connection. I know ISPF does this.
And, while we're on the subject of PDSE, did anyone happen to notice
yesterday's update to APAR OW57671? Someone added the following:
*** UPDATE ADDED 2006/09/13 ***
The 'permanent restriction' that prevented deletion of
PDSE datasets that were in the lnklst at IPL time
has been removed at the z/OS 1.8 level.
*** END OF 2006/09/13 UPDATE ***
