At one of my previous jobs I was interviewing for, and got the job, they actually went out on IBM-MAIN and did a search on my name to see what kinds of contributions if any, and the level of questions/answers made. They told me of this AFTER I got the job. It is afterall, a way to get a gut-check for the person you are trying to hire.
